Twenty Years of Powering Safety to New Heights
After twenty years of dedicated service to the OSHA Electric Transmission and Distribution National Partnership, Bill Donovan has announced his retirement. Throughout his tenure, Bill played a pivotal role in strengthening our collaborative efforts and expanding the capabilities of our industry. His leadership and passion were instrumental in fostering a strong safety culture. This commitment to safety has come to define the overall success of the OSHA Partnership.
Jason Spivey, Executive Chair of Power Corporation of America, reflects on this legacy by noting that Bill helped build a culture that defines our collective commitment to safety. His contributions have not only grown the Partnership but have ensured its continued success for years to come.
A Passion for the Craft and the Contractor
Bill’s influence reached every level of the industry. Heidi Meyer-Bremer, past Steering Committee chair from Michels, remembers his unique willingness to work directly with contractors to make the industry safer. His identity as a true safety professional was evident in every meeting and every best practice established.
For many, his impact was most felt by those on the line. Matt Compher, a legacy Steering Committee member from Quanta, shares that Bill’s passion for craft workers is what defines his legacy. Bill never lost sight of the people behind the numbers, ensuring that the workforce remained the central focus of every safety initiative.
In His Own Words: The Power of Partnership
Looking back on his twenty year journey, Bill shared his perspective on what makes this organization unique:
“The work of the OSHA Electric Transmission and Distribution National Partnership has improved training, established best practices, and helped to reduce the number of serious injuries and fatalities across the industry. I am proud to have been part of this partnership and of all the good work the partners have achieved. I feel that this partnership model is in itself a best practice of how employers, labor, and OSHA can work together and be agents of positive change across an industry.”
A Legacy of Positive Change
We extend our sincere gratitude to Bill for his many contributions. He has been more than a leader. He has been a true agent of positive change. We wish him and his family every happiness and success in this next chapter of his life.
